FRENCH: Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education - Consultation - copy

Give SIECCAN your input!

Inform the development of the new edition of the
Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education

As a representative of a key stakeholder organization and/or as an individual with expertise in a relevant area (e.g., sexuality, sexual health, education, health promotion), The Sex Information & Education Council of Canada (SIECCAN) is asking for your help and support in revising and updating the Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education.

This consultation consists of the following:

Background & Purpose

We will start by providing you with some background information on the history and context of the development of previous versions of the Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education, as well as the goals of the new edition to be published in 2018.

The entire consultation may take 45 to 60 minutes. You will have the option to save your responses and complete the consultation at a later time.

Your background

We will first ask some information about you and the work you do.

You will then have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the new edition of the Guidelines by completing the following consultation:

Part 1: Evaluate the 2008 Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education

We are soliciting feedback on the most recent Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education published in 2008. In order to effectively integrate feedback from this consultation process, it is important that we understand your perspectives on various elements of the previous edition of the Guidelines.

Part 2: Provide direction on the proposed content for the new edition of the Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education

We will ask for your input on revising the main sections of the Guidelines.

Part 3: Identify settings and populations to be addressed in the new edition of the Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education

In addition to schools and general populations of youth, we will ask you what other settings and populations should be addressed in the Guidelines.

Part 4: Specify grade/age benchmarks for the provision of information and skills to prevent STBBI

We will ask you to identify grade/age benchmarks to provide youth with information and behavioural skills related to the prevention of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI). We will also ask you to help identify how and when youth should be linked to STBBI testing within curricula.

At the end of the survey, you will be given the opportunity to share any additional comments about the Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education
