Yes, you can water your shrubs, plants, and trees, however...
Sprinklers are allowed daily from 4am to 9am. You may use hand watering drip irrigation and a spring-loaded shut off nozzle.
Watering shrubs, plants, and trees is not restricted until Stage 3, and even then you can still water using a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle, or a watering can. At Stage 4, gardens can no longer be watered.
Please use a car wash.
You cannot wash your car or boat on the street at anytime, in accordance with #68 and #68A in this
Streets and Traffic bylaw.
If you must wash your car at home, you can only do so if you:
- Use a space that has gravel or grass underneath
- Use a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle
- Make sure it drains into your own property, not City property.
We recommend using a commercial car wash which uses less water, and treats the waste water. It's a great way to conserve potable water this season.
Yes, the use of pressure washers is okay.
There are currently no restrictions for using power washers.
Keep an eye out for the change to Stage 2 restrictions, when pressure washing is no longer allowed unless it is for safety or painting preparations. Aesthetic cleaning is allowed during Stage 2 when done by a commercial company only.
Sorry, no sprinklers for playing, and no slip n' slides.
Watering lawns outside of allocated times is not allowed regardless of the methods or intentions. Unfortunately, that means no jumping through the sprinkler, and no slip and slides.
As an alternative, check out our
water play parks. A kiddie pool might also be an option for you – they are still allowed in Stages 1 and 2.
