Gowan Canada Groups 3 and 8 Calculator

WELCOME TO THE GOWAN CANADA "ROTATE WITH GROUPS 3 & 8" RETAIL CALCULATOR

Herbicide Resistance is a growing concern in Western Canada.  Recent studies in Saskatchewan and Manitoba from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada are showing significant increases in the prevalence of herbicide resistant weeds.  The Alberta study conducted in 2017 will be released next year and results are expected to be similar.

Wild oats are the most concerning weed with a large distribution across the prairies and a high percentage of populations resistant to groups 1 and 2.  Weed scientists are also concerned about group 9, or glyphosate, resistance in the future.  Groups 1 and 2 are used on a large percentage of crop acres each year while both groups 3 and 8 are used on only a small percentage.

It is well understood by weed scientists that increased diversity of herbicide groups will help battle herbicide resistance.

This calculator will help you understand how the use of soil residual herbicides from Gowan can help you economically as well as agronomically - now and into the future.
