4. How many hours does your business spend per week on complying with this regulation (e.g. filling out forms, applying for permits, reporting business activity etc.)?

6. The ministry is considering an increase in a gas contractor’s guaranteed bond to meet the rising cost of correcting non-conforming permits since 1992.  When bonds are not sufficient to cover the costs of poor work, it falls to the customer to make up the difference. Therefore, the ministry recommends increasing a guarantee bond paid by a gas contractor:
  • From $5,000 to $10,000, which is considered reasonable for the current working environment, and
  • From $10,000 to $30,000 for the gas contractors who have a claim against their guarantee bond or have the guarantee bond cancelled for cause.
This increase is also consistent with The Electrical Licensing Regulations. Do you agree or disagree with this proposal? *This question is required.
7. The ministry would like your input for making gas-fitter a designated trade in Saskatchewan. Trade requirements and examinations would be provided by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission or other institutions accredited by the Gas Licensing Office. This type of certification is in place in several Canadian provinces.

Do you agree or disagree with making gas fitter a designated trade?
  *This question is required.
8. The ministry is considering moving to a single license fee for propane distributors ($150 per year and $450 for three years)  to simplify their process. The changes include the following fees:

•    Bulk storage and filling plants (in water capacity in litres)
•    Out-of-province propane distributors

Do you agree or disagree with this proposal?
