Squamish River Valley

Squamish River Valley
Strategic Recreation Management Plan

Introduction
If you recreate in or are concerned about the Squamish River Valley, we want to hear from you.

The Squamish River Valley has become a very popular outdoor recreation and camping destination, with tens of thousands of visitors annually. With this growth in popularity, environmental impacts, human – wildlife conflicts, public safety, conflicts and impacts to spiritually and culturally important sites and industrial tenures have also grown. In addition, there are concerns that current camping demands in the Valley are exceeding the current supply of camping opportunities.

In response to these growing pressures, the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development are moving forward with the preparation of a Strategic Recreation Management Plan for the Squamish River Valley. As a fist step in the planning process, we are looking to engage those who visit the Valley for recreation or are concerned about the management of the Valley. To inform the planning process, it is important to understand how the Valley is enjoyed, what users feel are the most important issues to be resolved and to gather ideas and strategies to improve the quality of recreation and the management of recreation impacts.

We thank you in advance for taking the time to help inform the planning process. The survey should take between 10-15 minutes to complete. You are not required to answer any question you do not wish to answer, and your responses will remain completely anonymous and confidential.
