School Laptop / Chromebook Loan Agreement

Loan Agreement Conditions

Mountain Christian School acknowledges and embraces the educational advantages for student learning in a digital environment. It is expected that students will us the school's Laptops / Chromebooks responsibly at all times to assist and enhance learning in their courses.

Responsible use is in keeping with the accepted standards of the school and the laws of Canada. This extends to acknowledging digital information sources in accordance with copyright laws by using appropriate references and bibliographies.


It is the school’s expectation that student use of digital resources will always be related to the school curriculum and authorized school activities.

To support learning using digital resources, the school will endeavor to provide students with:
         Access to school online digital learning resources
         Access to digital equipment, according to learning needs
         An individually assigned laptop computer, as determined by the school, according to current school policy.
•    All laptops acquired by Mountain Christian School are deemed school property.

•    A borrower assumes all responsibility for the Laptop/Chromebook and must complete and sign this Laptop Loan Agreement before being issued with a Laptop/Chromebook.

•     Each person issued with a Laptop/Chromebook is responsible for the security of that Laptop/Chromebook, regardless of whether it is used in a classroom, office, at the persons place of residence, or in any other location such as an automobile, or a hotel. Users must keep their laptops with them, within sight and use common sense to prevent their theft. The laptop must never be left unattended. 

•     If a laptop is lost or damaged, the user will be responsible for reimbursing the school (Mountain Christian School) for the repair or replacement of the system. Replacement cost for the laptop computer is based on the purchase price of equipment with similar specifications. Repair costs will be based on actual costs of parts and labour. It is suggested that an additional insurance rider be purchased by the borrower to cover the laptop in the home.

      Users must agree to take responsibility and financial liability for the laptop and associated peripherals signed out until the user relinquishes custodianship by returning and signing in the laptop and all peripherals.
 
Students are expected to maintain a positive and productive learning environment, by:

1. Keeping personally assigned laptop computers secure and in good order at school and at home.

2. Ensuring individually assigned laptop computers are:
  • stored and carried in school-provided bags
  • fully charged overnight
  • available for study every school day
  • stored safely at home when not in use
3. Protecting personal network passwords and especially not sharing the passwords with other people, in or out of school

4. Following teacher instruction with regards to appropriate and timely use of the digital equipment and resources

5. Promptly informing the Principal / Vice-Principal of damage to, breakdowns or loss of, digital equipment or resources along with providing an explanation of the problem giving the Principal / Vice-Principal access to any digital equipment in question as soon as possible.

6. Communicating with others and publishing material online in an appropriate and ethical manner at altimes.

7.Adhering to Mountain Christian School’s as well as Canada’s Federal Government laws regarding plagiarism, defamation, access to and use of illegal software, sites and materials.

I AGREE to take responsibility and financial liability for the laptop and associated peripherals detailed on the sign-out sheet. I have read and agree to comply with Mountain Christian School's Laptop Loan agreement and conditions.
This agreement will last until I relinquish custodianship by returning and signing in the laptop and all peripherals and re-signing the sign-out sheet.
