OMPRN Pathology Matters 2020 - Abstract Submission Form

Eligibility: Abstracts may be submitted by a pathology resident or CCMG trainee at an Ontario university. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows engaged in cancer pathology research at an Ontario university are also welcome and encouraged to submit an abstract. All presenting authors must register for the Pathology Matters Meeting.

We ask that authors submit only one abstract in which they are the presenting author.
Online meeting presentations format: This year, presenters will be invited to submit

Please download the abstract template by clicking here.

Complete and upload your abstract according to the instructions below.

Formatting: The title should be written in sentence case (i.e. capitalize first letter of the sentence, proper nouns, acronyms, but nothing else).

Body of abstract should include:
•    A introduction that includes the research question being addressed
•    Sufficient information demonstrating relevance to cancer pathology
•    Sufficient description of methodology or cases
•    Sufficient objective evidence/observations in the results section to support conclusions
•    Statement of conclusions

Additional abstract considerations: Writing must be clear, concise, and grammatically correct. The abstract should be single-spaced and cannot exceed 250 words. A maximum of 2 tables and/or figures may be embedded into the Word file; please deduct 50 words from the maximum word count for each included table or figure. Figures should be no larger than 3.5 inches wide by 4.0 inches high, legible at these dimensions, and cropped to eliminate extra white space. Tables must fit and be legible within a 3.5-inch column. All abbreviations should be defined when first used. If used, references should be given in parentheses without authors or title by provided Index-Medicus-listed Journal abbreviations without punctuation followed by year, volume number and inclusive page numbers. (Example: CJP 2012;35:151-169). Indicate with a disclosure statement at the end of the abstract whether these data have been presented previously, noting the venue and presentation date.

Video research pitch: In lieu of a traditional poster session, our virtual meeting this year will feature an online, pre-recorded “research pitch” session. Authors of approved abstracts will be invited to upload a two-minute pre-recorded video as a narrated PowerPoint file describing their research to the Pathology Matters webpage. Registered attendees will be able to view these pitches in advance of the meeting and vote on their favourite videos. Winning pitches will be played during the research pitch session of our virtual meeting and the authors will participate in a moderated online Q&A panel discussion with meeting attendees.
